Paris Saint-Germain Overcomes Marseille in a Shootout to Claim French Super Cup in Kuwait.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious trophy on fourteen different times.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown between the Ligue 1 winners and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger found the net in the opening stages.

Yet, the southern French side struck two times late to take a surprise advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a crucial equaliser in the final moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Goncalo Ramos, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all converted with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty victory.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 years.
